I went to a piano recital yesterday night at Yong Siew Toh conservatory. It's called primarily piano, and plainly it's all about piano. When I stepped into the concert hall, I was quite amazed to see that it's 80% filled.... Now I know, people come early so that they'll be able to sit at the side where they can see the performer's fingers... Haha.. Well, it's my first piano recital anyway. Now I know...
Personally I enjoyed the Prelude in C major by Prokofiev, played by a young Indonesian girl. And definitely the highlight is the last piece by Hannah Lim, some ballade from Chopin. I guess piano recitals are not boring afterall, especially when the performers are so fantastic. Definitely, comparing to those outstanding ones, the rest seemed to be lacking in technique, but surely one can see the effort and discipline. I thought about 2 things when I was listening to the concert. Firstly, the place reminded me of Olomouc in Czech Republic. The beautiful theatre situated within the quiet town centre where we sat at the front row listening to some of the top choirs in the world. At the same time, this whole recital thing reminded me of my mom. Her effort in making me learnt the piano and all the nagging and all. I guess she really wanted the best for her daughter. Now only I see, I guess it's not too late. Thank you Mummy...
I got to know a new friend from Medicine as well called Rodney. He seemed to have some health problems as he is constantly quivering in a way. But he is such a nice and modest lad. It's rare to find people who genuinely wants to know you these days. When we told him that we're pharmacy students, it's just so nice to hear his reply being..."Oh well, it doesn't matter, we'll still be working together in the future.." I guess there're still very nice doctors out there who don't belittle the pharmers. =)
Corrine May's Christmas Album is out, I wonder whether should i go get one soon. Get to find this song called "The Answer"... It's so nice........!!!
Sophie and the Cat, I miss all of you all, how I wish I can go out this weekend... -Seahorse-
