Watched "Letters from Iwo Jima" on Saturday night with Minghann. Didn't expect to get much from the show, just hope that it'll be a decent one, not wasting my 9.50 bucks away.
The starting of the show was rather slow... I guess the director is trying to develop the characters(as what minghann said) and yes...he did it quite successfully.
Overall it was a good show, a show that will leave a deep impression in your heart, one that you'll go home and google more to find out what actually happened, are those facts or fiction. Though it is a war show and it showed quite a bloody scenes(I personally unable to stand the fact that they'd rather bombed themselves into pieces than to be captured by the enemy), at the end of the day, it produces such repugnance towards war. The show was so filled with emotions and life, which makes one feel that the war was a total nuisance. However, that was history, and the movie itself also a portrayer of history from an outsider, made into drama. Seriously I wonder how much of it is real...
For history and war show lovers, this is the show for you. Don't miss it!
