I woke up early at 630am this morning. It has been a long time since I've woke up this early. The
reason--> I'm going for my first Charity Run in Singapore- TerryFox Run or Run for Hope. It is held at Sentosa and the run was 5km long. It's really an amazing experience, participating in a marathon with so many people, young and old. And it's just especially nice to see families running together. The morning rain, which was rather heavy never stop anyone from running, and we can see smiles everywhere. Everyone seemed to be quite happy and enthusiatic.
Personally I really enjoyed the run. The slopes weren't too bad, and the distance was just nice. And I realised that running in the rain is definitely better than running under the crazy afternoon sun. Though I have to wipe off the water and the fog on my specs consistently. Knowing the reason for the run is even more meaningful. The funds collected are meant for the Singapore's Cancer Foundation. And the story of Terry Fox is just so moving. Terry Fox was from Canada and he was dignosed with cancer when he was 18. When he was in the hospital he was so moved by all the cancer patients around him that he decided to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research. He ran 42km a day across Canada, Ontario and Quebec. But after 143 days, Terry was forced to stop as the cancer spreaded to his lungs. He died in 1981 when he was only 22. As I was reading his article, my heart just sake and I'm deeply moved.
Well, it's definitely a meaningful morning... And I'm exhausted now... I should take a nap then, before starting on my lab reports. Tsk tsk tsk....
