I'm finally in Cairns! The flight wasn't that great... 8 hours flying, with an half and hour stopover at Darwin, and I only managed an hour of sleep... Things get worse when we can only check in at 2pm. We were so tired, we lazed around the lounge trying hard to catch a nap, but again another failed attempt.
First day in Cairns wasn't that great. Basically it rained nonstop the whole day... It was rather miserable... As we can't manage to locate the beach as well.
Everything starts to fall into place after we checked in. The Gulligan Place is more like a posh backpacker hostel, and we're the only NUS group staying at the second level (the rest on the 1st). There's a nice common kitchen, and well, the beds are nice and there's a romantic balcony as well... Not with great scenery though, but the cool breeze is good enough.
Australians are laid back. The welcome party started spontaneously, nothing like official speech, or instructions of what to. Thus, you just go with the flow... Drinking, dancing, chatting, lazing around... Just do what you enjoy doing... I drank a little, and danced as well. Met people from around the World- Taiwan, US, Holland, London... definitely Australians. It was great...
Basically first day was relaxed... and today...2nd day, still struggling with the lack of sleep, but it was ok after I had a cup of coffee.
We're gonna have another party tonight, and bungee jumping! Hope that I can pull through this afternoons session.
Cairns is great, and the sun is out! Looking forward to go to the beach!
