Preceptorship at Guardian is enriching, has its set of ups and downs. Ironically, me and LiTing like "saikang" sometimes, I guess it's brainless. Endless complaints and depressing comments made by our store manager Edwin, and sometimes our preceptor, coupled with the never ceasing stories of resignation... It seems to me that Guardian is not that place I want to be in the future....Or else, changes are made. As my mom said, emphasis on profitability is everywhere, no one can escape... Guess it's quite true.
Thunder got so affected by all these comments that she felt that she has lost her innocence and felt that the future is bleak. I almost succumb to the emptiness and meaninglessness, a few weeks after the start of preceptorship. I kept on giving excuses like well, maybe if I am not the apprentice but the boss, I might feel more passionate for the profession.
Sometimes I feel that I almost lost the zeal, or sometimes just do not wish for more, and be my contented self... Living a simple life... Going with the flow. See where the flow will lead me to...
Is that the right way? No one can offer me the answer I guess.....
After flipping through the Centennial Edition of Pharmaceutica(which has been left to gather dust for the past half an year), there seemed to be a change in direction, gathering all the diverting roads, and now, focusing on a high-way!!! It seems that Pharmacy is not that bleak at all... So many options available. One can choose to work for a few years, then pursue a Pharm D. at the States, and if you're good, join the emergency team, and be part of something called...ER! If you're into some specialisation, can pursue further Masters (either locally, or overseas) and a phD overseas... If you're into hospital, there are so many options available, Govt, private and medical groups! And if you're not into retail or hospital, join the Giants...Wyeth, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Schering-Plough.... And if you're good, can even work overseas! Wow...!!! I am just to inspired by all the stories...
And definitely one saying is true, "The eye will not see what the brain does not know", Ignorance is definitely not bliss when it comes to professional knowledge. If we want to offer the best to our patients, we have to equip ourselves with the best knowledge and wisdom, and if we're called the druggist, the drug expert, we jolly well prove it!
Well, hopefully all these inspiration and stories will drive me on towards a certain goal. I'm still unsure of where I'm heading, but I believe I'll be able to find my niche, a place where I can enjoy what I'm doing and at the same time, be a contributor to mankind and society.
